Before they move in
Good questions.
The practical details about fit, features, privacy, and what happens next. If something is not answered here, we would rather say it is still being decided than dress a guess up as a specification.
The basics
How do you say Koja?
KO-jah—a hard J, as in jam. Koja is the Swedish word for the hideout a child builds from blankets and chairs: a small, safe place of their own.
What dogs does it fit?
Koja launches in one Medium size, intended for dogs up to about 40 lb. Larger sizes are on the roadmap. Final production dimensions will be confirmed before orders are charged.
Is Koja a crate?
Koja is a den: a familiar place for resting and settling, designed as furniture and built around connected care. Owners should still introduce it gradually and positively, following the guidance of their trainer or veterinarian when needed.
Technology
Do I need an app subscription?
No. Live view, two-way audio, and essential safety alerts work with the included tier. Optional coaching tools—such as settling, sleep, and shared-care trends—are planned separately.
What happens if Wi-Fi goes out?
Local climate monitoring continues. The app reconnects automatically and makes an outage visible, so a missing signal never looks like an all-clear.
Can my sitter or family use the app?
Household-controlled access is part of the product design. The goal is to let trusted caregivers follow the same routine without sharing a primary password.
How does the treat drop work?
A gravity-fed mechanism places a single reward at the dog’s paws inside the den. It is designed to be quiet and contained rather than launching food across the room.
At home
What about privacy?
The camera is aimed inside the den rather than across your room. Koja is being designed around encrypted video, multi-factor sign-in, household-controlled access, clear retention choices, and a physical privacy shutter.
Can I wash the mat?
Yes. The launch configuration includes a fitted, washable cream mat designed for everyday care.
How should I introduce my dog to Koja?
Leave the door open, add familiar bedding, and build a positive association with short, easy repetitions. Do not make the first introduction happen at the same time as a difficult departure or loud event.
